ARE Accountability GuidelinesAllies for Racial Equity (ARE) is an organization of white, anti-racist Unitarian Universalists in an accountable relationship with Diverse Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM). We seek to participate in the anti-racist transformation of our faith movement and our world. These guidelines exist as a living document within the covenant of our relationship with DRUUMM. | At the 2010 ARE conference in Long Beach, California, attendees worked with Dr. Shelley Tochluk to develop a list of ways in which accountability is put into action. These "accountability guidelines" were refined through small group processes and word-smithed by the Steering Committee. These guidelines were subsequently reviewed and approved by DRUUMM leaders and members. We hope you'll use these guidelines to shape your personal behavior. We hope you'll use them to spark discussions within your congregations, organizations, and districts. We hope you will bring them to communities of color to whom you seek to be accountable, seek their honest feedback, and forward that feedback to ARE leadership. |
